Job Description
The role of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) is designed to help individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, traumatic brain injuries, or chronic illnesses to increase independence. Direct Support Professionals work one on one with a client in their own homes and in the community to build skills that empower them, as well as help them to engage and integrate within their community.
Your role will look unique to each client as you come alongside them to take part in tasks such as running essential errands, attending appointments, managing schedules, personal organization, household management, financial management, meal planning, exploring, participating in hobbies, and more.
As a direct support professional, the rapport that you build with your clients will assist them in building the skills and confidence needed to live independently in their community and achieve their goals.
