Coverage Specialist

Job Description

The role of a Coverage Specialist is a full-time position designed to create and foster relationships between the Ehrnriter Companion and Community Group (ECCG) and both new and existing clients.
 
The Coverage Specialist works alongside the Field Coordinator to ensure all clients receive weekly sessions. This role includes working one-on-one with clients, onboarding new clients to assigned staff, training new staff with assistance from the Field Coordinator, and providing coverage for open client sessions.
 
The Coverage Specialist will work a full-time schedule based on predetermined availability to ensure clients receive appropriate care each week. Client assignments will change regularly based on individual needs and business demands.

 

The primary focus of this position is to ensure all clients have the opportunity to participate in a weekly session. This may occur when a client’s regular staff is unavailable or when additional sessions are needed outside of a DSP’s typical availability. In addition to building strong client relationships, the role also emphasizes the development and onboarding of new ECCG staff.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

– Provide coverage sessions to clients who do not have staff available at that time 
– Serve as a model for new staff during shadow and handoff sessions by leading client sessions and demonstrating a person-centered approach 
– Meet with clients regularly, both in-home and through remote supports 
– Support clients through creative, thoughtful problem-solving 
– Understand and implement client support plan goals 
– Assist clients in planning and structuring time during sessions 
– Complete documentation of activities and progress in a timely manner as directed by a supervisor 
– Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, supervisors, and support team members 
– Onboard new clients and execute transition plans for assignment of field staff 
– Transport clients in the community for appointments and activities as needed 
– Troubleshoot with new clients to determine fit for services 

 

Qualifications
 
– High school diploma or equivalent 
– 2+ years of customer service experience 
– Minimum of 6 months experience in the direct services field 
– Minimum availability of 35 hours per week 
– Valid driver’s license and an insured, well-maintained vehicle 
– Ability to pass a criminal background check 
– Ability to complete and maintain required DHS trainings (e.g., HIPAA compliance) 

 

Essential Functions
 
– Occasionally lift or move up to 20 lbs to meet client needs 
– Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 75% of a session 
– Frequently move within client homes and community settings, including navigating stairs 
– Maintain a valid driver’s license 
– Frequently communicate clearly and effectively throughout sessions
