(SILS Coach)

Job Description

The role of a Senior Independent Life Skills Coach (SILS Coach) is a full-time position designed to help individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, traumatic brain injuries, or chronic illnesses increase their independence.

A SILS Coach works one-on-one with clients, onboards new clients to assigned staff, trains new staff with assistance from the Field Coordinator, and helps transition clients between ILS Coach assignments.

An SILS Coach works a flexible schedule based on their predetermined availability to ensure clients receive appropriate care every week. SILS Coaches maintain a consistent weekly schedule while incorporating shadow sessions. They also focus heavily on the development and onboarding of new Ehrnriter Companion and Community Group staff.

An SILS Coach works closely with their Field Coordinator to ensure successful shadows are conducted with new staff and that team members are successfully integrated into the field. The SILS Coach provides feedback to the Field Coordinator regarding shadow sessions, staff readiness for success, and client-staff pairing recommendations.

The role of an SILS Coach is to be an ambassador for ECCG, exemplifying our core values through every interaction.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Senior Independent Life Skills Coach’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Meet with clients regularly as scheduled in their homes, in addition to providing remote supports.
  • Onboard new clients and execute transition plans for assignment of field staff.
  • Support clients through creative, thoughtful problem-solving.
  • Understand and work toward support plan goals.
  • Assist clients in planning and structuring time together.
  • Complete documentation of activities and progress in a timely manner as directed by a supervisor.
  • Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, supervisors, and members of the support team.
  • Transport clients as needed throughout the community for appointments and activities.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of customer service experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in the direct services field.
  • Minimum availability of 30 hours per week.
  • Valid driver’s license and insured vehicle in good working condition.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to complete and maintain required DHS compliance training, including CPR/First Aid and HIPAA.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working with individuals with brain injury, developmental disabilities, or severe and persistent mental health conditions.


Essential Functions

  • Occasionally move up to 20 pounds for various client needs.
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for up to 75% of a session.
  • Frequently move within and about clients’ residences and/or the community, including ascending and descending stairs.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Frequently communicate verbally with clients throughout sessions.
  • Ability to observe and interact with clients in person during sessions.
